Obesity

At school my class and I are watching “Jamie Oliver Food Revolution” and I think it is a very good thing to know and learn. Many people think that a little chips or pop won’t kill you, but in reality once you start it will become a daily routine like smoking, doing drugs and many other things. All of these things can turn out to be fatal. Just remember the next time you eat fast food (McDonalds, Arbys, Burger King, e.t.c) or even to your local supermarket, remember that these food are horrible for our system, (top ten) :

1. Quaker Oats 100 % Natural Oats and Honey Granola contain 3 teaspoons of sugar per half cup, and come laden with more artery-clogging fat than a McDonald's hamburger.
2. Gwaltney Great Dogs Chicken Franks contain 10 or 11 grams of fat per frank. Most hotdog manufacturers now offer pork, beef, turkey, or soy franks with zero to 2.5 grams of fat per frank.
3. Entenmann's Rich Frosted Donut Variety Pack has as much saturated fat as 9 strips of bacon (10 grams).
4. Nissin Cup Noodles with Shrimp contain pre-fried and pre-salted noodles, compounded by the practice of using artery-clogging palm oil. They add 6 times as much sodium to the noodles as potato chips contain.
5. Frito-Lay's Wow Potato Chips are fried in olestra, a recently formulated fat substitute that some people cannot digest.
6. Oscar Mayer Lunchables contain heavily processed meat, cheese and mostly white-flour crackers.
7. Burger King's french fries have a salty coating that allow more fat to be absorbed.
8. Campbell's red label soups come brimming with salt.
9. Bugles are fried in highly saturated coconut oil. Baked Bugles are better.
10. Contadina's Alfredo Sauce contains a large amount of butter.
Just please remember this for the next time. Thanks for reading :)

  1. I agree that people tend not to pay attention to
what they are eating. Many foods are said to be
"healthy", but that's just to cover up the fact that they are made mainly from fat and sugar. What
really surprised me was how skinny some of those
people were, considering what they eat. But some of those foods are really gross!

  2. I think you are totally right.

People should not eat that stuff if it's making them big and unhealthy. They should listen to Jamie Oliver, so he could make them healthy again.

These people will not live very long if they keep eating and eating gunk food. And people deserve a long, happy life!

I think Jamie is doing an awesome thing!

  3. I agree with you "Elmo101".

It's disgusting what people will eat if some food is just put on their plate! Most people probably don't really care about what's put into what their eating, as long as it tastes good to them! GROSS!

I know that most people think everything that's sold in a supermarket should be good for you, but it's NOT! Some foods like Quaker Oats 100% Natural Oats and Honey Granola, are in a store and 100% Natural, but LOOK AT THE INGREDIENT LIST! You can't believe everything that's on the advertisements.

  4. I sort of agree because lots of those things are not very bad for you but they have some bad part here and there and with the quakers Oat thing lots of that sugar is natural sugar (that is y it saws 100% natural) things that are really bad for you are like pop and chips but I agree on the burger King fries being bad for you but McDonald is just as bad for you as Burger King if not worse (some meals there have 1000+ calories)
some things a pretty bad for for you but 60% of the things you listed are for on the sometimes side then on the bad side. lots of things are high in sugar or fat but they are high and protein and good stuff that helps you grow. I no you think these stuff are not good for you but I would like you to consider the things that I said sorry that I complained. White bread is really bad for for you to. (I think it is one of the worst) Sorry that i am not on your side

    2. By no means is the list above complete. I agree that McDonald's is just as bad for you. You have to look at the whole package. Just because there is protein in something you have to look where the majority of calories are coming from. If they are from fat and sugars then you need to stay away.

You need to find things that have lots of vitamins, proteins and good carbs and stay away from the high calorie items. They will just turn into fat in your body and not give you the nutrients you need.

  5. I think it's really sad how people just can't be bothered to go to the store, buy fresh foods, and put together something healthy. I know we all have our busy days, but you don't have to eat fast food then either. On days when you're not busy, put together a big pot of something. Whatever is left over, freeze or put in the fridge. Then on days you are busy, just take something out of the fridge. When you make something new, it doesn't have to be complicated, or fancy either. Sometimes when we have lots of stuff in the fridge, we just slam a whole lot of stuff together and don't even use a recipe. My Mother calls it her mish-mash. And if you like dessert...just put some granola on top of ice cream.

    1. I agree, people try to eat unhealthy(or don't try to eat healthy). One could always make something healthy on a weekend and freeze it so you just need to heat it up before dinner(or
any other meal) If you start eating healthy, you eat healthy out of habit(it's a good habit to have).

  6. When people eat too much of that stuff on a regular basis, they'll get used to it and they'll keep eating more and more of that stuff!!!

I feel really bad for the people who end up being over-weight from this 'junk', and now a days people are so superstitious about their weight and whether you have a 'flat stomach' or not. All those people who think their stomach is 'too big' shouldn't worry about it, because it's what's INSIDE that matters!!!

I think Jamie Oliver is doing a really great thing helping these people because if this continues, half the population will be dying 10-20 years earlier!!! It can also lead to a life-time of health/heart problems. If Jamie suceeds (he probably will/did) most people will probably become healthier throughout their life/lives!!! Then we'll all live happier, healthier lives!!!

Well that's all I have to say...Good luck Jamie!!!

  7. Obesity?I think that some people don't realize that
eating this food can kill you and make you very ill
in the US states they eat breakfast and lunch at and the cafeteria I like it better when your parents pack it,but not all that produced stuff who cares if it tastes good, IT COULD KILL YOU!Get your parents to make you a sandwich or a fresh salad some fruit and a veggie.

  8. I think its discusting how much fat and soidium goes into that food. Infact, idont even think thats real food (10 grams of saturated fat. yuck)! Thank you elmo101 for posting this, becaus I will never eat this food (fake food ) ever again.
Jamie oliver is a really good show but it is also discusting. In one episode he brought in a truckload of fat and told the parents " this is how much fat your kids eat evry year.
I agree with knk artworks, that quaker oats are not at all healthy for you and that you cant always belive th comesials.

  11. It is just gross how much fat and sugar are in things these days. I don't think that people should eat things like that.

I mean a bag of chips would not be a death thing but if you eat it every day then it would start to become a bad thing.

hen they tell you it is real then it should be real I mean yes if they use all good thing then it met not tast good. But would you rather have something be good aang die from it or it be good and you not dye

  12. The main point here is that you are to read the labels of what you are eating/buying. If the first ingredients are sugar, fructose, glucose or any other kind of -ose then you are eating some form of sugar. If it is first or near the top of the list then it is the ingredient that is being used the most.

If you see words that you don't recognize or can't pronounce then you shouldn't be eating them; they are just chemicals.

Quaker oats make plain oat cereal and you can add sugar or brown sugar if you wish. That way you have control over how much you add. The main point is THINK before you simply reach for a snack.

    You are what you eat.
