Slip and Slide on the Fields

I am worried to walk on the fields because they are ice covered. I can hardly walk anywhere because everywhere I walk there is ice. No one can have fun because all you do is slip around. Sports aren’t fun and other games either. You’ll hurt yourself because you slipped and then playing isn’t fun. The last time I went outside, I was walking around and lots of people were either hurt or crying, or slipping around. The ground is hard and no fun to play on. It isn’t fair to go outside and then all you have to do is stand in a corner trying not to slip. I almost slipped a lot. I was happy to find that I did not fall and am still standing on my two feet. We should take salt or stone and sprinkle it all over the fields so we don’t slip as many times as I’ve seen people slip. You can’t even run to get warm, or to play a game of tag. Where ever I ran I almost crash into people because I can’t stop as fast. With the sand or salt I would have a better grip on the ground. And if you did try to slip around, you wouldn’t go very fast because of all the bumps on the ground. I kind of find it like a hazard. I think we should either block off areas or sprinkle salt or stones.

I also enjoy the ice. I like slipping and sliding or to pretend I’m skating. But I still don’t like the ice. When I run, my legs flop around and I can’t run properly.

 What do you think?

  1. I think the ice is fun to play soccer on but definetely NOT football because if you want to stop and go backwards really fast because someone is going to tag you, you can't! You'll just slide right into that person. I like the ice for soccer. Its easier to dive in goal because it's so slippery so you make a lot more saves. I luckily have only fallen twice but I haven't been hurt though. I can sort of run because of some snowy patches that I use to push off but that's all I can do.
So it depends what you are playing. The field would be way too hard to put sand on because the field is so big and how would you block it off? There are too many ways to get onto the field. And some kids would just go onto the ice anyways.

  2. I think the ice is okay. I do agree with "swigglestickhorse693"
that it is kind of hard to stay away from the icy spots. I like pretending to be a penguin and sliding on the ice on my belly, but when other kids slide into you unexpectedly, it is a pain in the butt! When I was little I used to pretend that I was trying to skate to the other side of the Arctic, and when Koko put sand on the icy spots, my friends and I would get a bit upset. But now, in grade 5, I am happy when Koko puts sand on the ice. So ussally when you are little, that is ussally when you enjoy the ice the most.
