Judging Others

I’ve noticed over the past few years that some students judge people by how neat they are and think that they always get good grades. But I have some friends that are REALLY messy, but get really good grades. Many other people also judge others by how they look. I don’t think that that is fair. It is not nice to judge people by how they look, act or their personality. That’s a form of bullying.  If your friend doesn’t get great grades, are you going to ignore or bully them? What if they look different? No! I’ve also noticed that people who don’t get good grades often copy the ones who do get better grades.  Why? I don’t think that judging others is fair. What do you think?

Let it SNOW...let it SNOW...let it SNOW!!!

I myself am a HUGE fan of snow!!! I have absolutely no problems with it. COLD...dress warm, WET...dry your clothes, SLIPPERY...be careful, SHOVELING...good exercise!!! So many people hate snow because of these teensy, weensy little details. These things come with the whole “winter package”. If you can get over these things, you can find SO many different activities to do and so many different ways to enjoy winter!!!

Skiing and building snow forts are two of MY favourite activities to do in the snow. There are so many other things to do in the winter like playing hockey ,ice/figure skating, building stuff (snowmen, forts, figures, etc.), snowboarding, going tobogganing, having snowball fights or even something as simple as playing outside or enjoying nature!!! As you can see, there are so many things to do in winter. I know I didn't list them ALL but those are some of the more “popular” things to do.

When people complain of being COLD, I don’t see why you don’t just dress warmer...add a few layers. I can understand if it’s 30 below Zero or something, but other than that DON”T COMPLAIN!!! If you are doing an activity like skiing or snowboarding, they even have warmers for your feet and hands too!!!
So no excuses....go out and enjoy the SNOW!!!

Well that’s all I have to say...tell me what YOU think.

N.H.L lockout

I am really mad that there is a lockout this year for the N.H.L. Next year I am going to Austria for a year so I will not be able to watch any hockey. So this year I was really looking forward to it. Another reason that I was looking forward to it was because I thought the Oilers might have a chance for the playoffs and I really wanted to see a playoff game were the Oilers were in again.
I think that the players are asking for too much money. If each player in the N.H.L has a contract over 1 million dollars and all the good players have contracts over 6 million I think that is way too much money and I am not on the players side.
It is still possible that the N.H.L can start up again but it is not very likely. They just cancelled the Winter Classic (Toronto vs Detroit) And this  game was supposed to an New years. That pretty much means that they are not playing hockey to January. Even if they do agree and they start it up in January it would start in the middle of the season and it would not be as fun to watch.
Hopefully they get things settled. That is all I have to say.

Bullies

Don't you just hate it when bullies bully you. I know how everyone feels about getting bullied because it happened to me. Just last year someone bullied me and I felt so alone. But all of a sudden i had a friend and then everyone was my friend the next year. It felt so amazing having so many friends  in that short summer.

On a the same topic. Did anyone hear about that girl in B.C that got bullied really bad. Like how can people be so mean to one beautiful girl like that or anyone. I never would have guessed that someone is getting bullied or rejected like that severely. Imagine how bad the people who bullied her to the point of her killing herself feel about what has happened.

In some schools cyber bullying is the mane thing that goes on. That is because everyone has cell phones which makes it worse and did anyone think that bullying someone to the braking point could end someones good life. And everyone is going to be called ugly of fat. But we could stop from that happening.

Now can you tell me what you think about bullying. thanks bye

Student Council Elections

This is the time of year at our school were we do our student council election.  All we do is put up posters and do speeches. I ran one year and failed miserably in all aspects. i am going to tell you what i think about this whole election thing.

I don’t really like the student council elections that we do because your friends always want you to vote for them you feel kind of bad. At our school we get two choices on who we vote for which is better than one vote. It wouldn’t be that bad if you only had two friends running but I have five friends running and I am not the best at making my mind up.

Which brings me to my next point, which is all the empty promises. People always say they are the best choice and they are planning something special like a movie day or a all out sports day. That would all be fine and dandy if they actually did that which 99.9% of the time never does. thats what I think about all the things people say they can do.

The one thing I actually like about the student council election is the tons of candy people hand out after they’re  finished their speeches.  Thats the only thing i really look forward to in this whole election mumbo jumbo.

Thats all I got to say =)

Slip and Slide on the Fields

I am worried to walk on the fields because they are ice covered. I can hardly walk anywhere because everywhere I walk there is ice. No one can have fun because all you do is slip around. Sports aren’t fun and other games either. You’ll hurt yourself because you slipped and then playing isn’t fun. The last time I went outside, I was walking around and lots of people were either hurt or crying, or slipping around. The ground is hard and no fun to play on. It isn’t fair to go outside and then all you have to do is stand in a corner trying not to slip. I almost slipped a lot. I was happy to find that I did not fall and am still standing on my two feet. We should take salt or stone and sprinkle it all over the fields so we don’t slip as many times as I’ve seen people slip. You can’t even run to get warm, or to play a game of tag. Where ever I ran I almost crash into people because I can’t stop as fast. With the sand or salt I would have a better grip on the ground. And if you did try to slip around, you wouldn’t go very fast because of all the bumps on the ground. I kind of find it like a hazard. I think we should either block off areas or sprinkle salt or stones.

I also enjoy the ice. I like slipping and sliding or to pretend I’m skating. But I still don’t like the ice. When I run, my legs flop around and I can’t run properly.

 What do you think?

Why Not Build Mega Schools?

Have you ever wondered if we should build mega schools?  I have.

Sometimes I wonder why we have some schools which have roughly 60 kids.  For example, Riverdale School.  To me it’s pointless to keep that school open!  They should cut that school off no matter how much they protest.  Look at Fulton, how many kids attended that school.  Yeah sure, the parents were probably upset, but did they protest? No!  What I think is that they should tear down some worthless building, and build one huge school there.  And shut down 4 other schools that equals + 700 kids.  Why waste precious money to keeping a school running with far too few students?  The Edmonton Public School board should  just shut the school down and that’s  the end of it.  Do they have to follow the choices made by the minority?  I don’t think so!  They should just go with what they think is right for this magnificent city of ours.  So in my opinion, shut down schools with less than 210 kids, and build on the grounds of some old building and build one huge mega school where that old power plant in downtown is.  A mega school could be the most technologically advanced school in Edmonton.  Now a days people aren’t making a whole bunch of friends, imagine how many friends they can make in a school that size, and with so many kids.  So now what’s your opinion?  Tell me NOW.  Hope to see all your advice on this topic.J
