Snow Good, Snow Bad

Now that the weather is warming up, I thought it appropriate to ask, DO YOU APPRECIATE THE SNOW? Now, I think we both agree that a simple yes or no is much too vague, so...

Are you someone who makes due with how the world is, no matter how it is, all the time, even if it is full of man eating bees? Ok, I think you get the point. You can deal with it.

  • Or are you someone who hates snow from the first snowflake, to the last puddle, and thinks snow should be illegal (although that’s technically impossible)? Would you rather live in a country where snow is just a myth?

  • Perhaps you are someone who makes up songs to praise the snow (feel free to share), in hopes of making it stay longer? Or you cry when the first green blades of grass poke out of the ground.

I think winter helps me appreciate other seasons. I can be happy when spring comes around and the temperatures rise. But I don’t hate winter either. I find it fun to go skiing, skating, tobogganing etc. Even just stepping outside for a snowball fight is great! So to make things short, I do appreciate the snow, but my parents would be  glad to move somewhere where snow is a myth!

Tell me what you think, and don’t hold back!

Fairytales

Most people that think they are super cool think that Fairytales are for babies, but they're not. I have always enjoyed reading Fairytales.  So I am interested in doing the Fairytale unit with our whole school.  Like really, we could perform a play or make up our own Fairytales. The possibilities are endless and the themes are intriguing!  Imagine, the principal dressing up as the Queen of the Fairytale Forest for one whole month!  One day we got to go for Tea with the Queen of the Fairytale Forest.   We got to miss class, eat cookies and drink tea and talk about our future like characters in happy Fairytales!

Lately, we have been reading Fairytales in German and English and then comparing them.   I find that Walt Disney makes the stories happier and not so scary.  If you read the Grimm stories they’re more frightening.  Since we have been sharing Fairytales that we have written it has been interesting to hear from different viewpoints or the effects of changing characters.  I have noticed that this unit is going to be a lot of fun and exciting, as well as a learning experience for years to come!  What do think about learning more about Fairytales?

Obesity

At school my class and I are watching “Jamie Oliver Food Revolution” and I think it is a very good thing to know and learn. Many people think that a little chips or pop won’t kill you, but in reality once you start it will become a daily routine like smoking, doing drugs and many other things. All of these things can turn out to be fatal. Just remember the next time you eat fast food (McDonalds, Arbys, Burger King, e.t.c) or even to your local supermarket, remember that these food are horrible for our system, (top ten) :

1. Quaker Oats 100 % Natural Oats and Honey Granola contain 3 teaspoons of sugar per half cup, and come laden with more artery-clogging fat than a McDonald's hamburger.
2. Gwaltney Great Dogs Chicken Franks contain 10 or 11 grams of fat per frank. Most hotdog manufacturers now offer pork, beef, turkey, or soy franks with zero to 2.5 grams of fat per frank.
3. Entenmann's Rich Frosted Donut Variety Pack has as much saturated fat as 9 strips of bacon (10 grams).
4. Nissin Cup Noodles with Shrimp contain pre-fried and pre-salted noodles, compounded by the practice of using artery-clogging palm oil. They add 6 times as much sodium to the noodles as potato chips contain.
5. Frito-Lay's Wow Potato Chips are fried in olestra, a recently formulated fat substitute that some people cannot digest.
6. Oscar Mayer Lunchables contain heavily processed meat, cheese and mostly white-flour crackers.
7. Burger King's french fries have a salty coating that allow more fat to be absorbed.
8. Campbell's red label soups come brimming with salt.
9. Bugles are fried in highly saturated coconut oil. Baked Bugles are better.
10. Contadina's Alfredo Sauce contains a large amount of butter.
Just please remember this for the next time. Thanks for reading :)

Twin Day

Our school has something called Twin Day. It’s where you find a friend to be your twin for a day. You dress the same and act the same. It’s a fun day!
I think it is good to do something like that because you get to hang out with your friends in a different way.  It’s funny, too, because you dress the same and what you wear can be silly. It is also a fun day because no one feels left out - everyone has the opportunity to join in.
That’s why I think it’s a good day to have Twin Day at our school.
What do you think?????????

Zombie Tag

I think Zombie Tag is a great game to play at recess because it involves: running, hiding, awareness and fun! I think it’s really fun when you’re not it and you’re the last one to be tagged and you're hiding, and you can hear them because they are really close to you and they don’t find you! Though it isn’t really fun when you’re the only one it, and you can’t tag anybody because they’re really fast and you’re slower than them. Still, I think Zombie Tag is a enjoyable game that’s fun for most people and should be played a lot! That was my blog and I hope you liked it! P.S. Comment if you love the game too!

The show: Logo

I think logo is a good show, because it educates kids what is happening each day around the world. It is cool because they make it short and to the point, in a language which we kids can easily understand. Every day there is a new subject on the show, whether it’s champions league soccer, demonstrations or bombings in Afghanistan. This show makes me appreciate what I have here, because sometimes they show the life of kids in different countries which is waaay different than here in Canada. Sometimes these stories make me kind of sad. But that is unfortunately what is going on in the world...
On a brighter side: of all the problems in the world it always has kind of funny ending, what cracks up a few people. You also can find more fun stuff on their website if you want to find out more.
It’s much better than adult news shows because they put me to sleep. They talk way too long about their topics. What's your opinion please comment.
