Palm Room Open to the Public or Not?

In  the past week our class was fortunate enough to go to the Legislature for a week for our Social Studies unit.  On one of the days we were able t go on tours with everyday people that worked there (example – electrician).
One of the things they showed us was the Palm Room.  The Palm Room is the very top floor of the Legislature.  They told us that only they were able to go up there (not even the Premier) and the students from School at the Leg (SATL) were an acception to the rules.  No public allowed.  If you would have made the rules would you have made it possible for the public to go in?  Would you have made a toll booth so people would have to pay for a certain amount of time in the Palm Room?  Or would you lock the doors and throw way the key so nobody can get in, making he room a money waste and dust collector.  Or would you keep the rules the way they are now,  Staff and SATL students only?

Tell me what YOU think.

Have you ever solved a crime?

On November 4th our grade 6 class went to the Bennett Centre to solve a crime.  We had lots of fun and learned a lot.
While we were at the Bennett Centre  (B.C.) we focused on one particular thing, that is we investigated our own crime scene.  We studied fingerprints, tested the evidence and scoured the crime scene for evidence.
For transportation we walked to the B.C.; there and back.  It was a little chilly but I think it was fine.  When we got there we hung up our bags and coats and got to wear genuine BC forensic lab coats.  After that we got straight to the investigating.
At lunch we sat in the cafeteria and ate our lunches that we brought from home. I think that it would have been really cool if we could have gotten some delicious lunch from their amazing chefs, but then we would have had to pay.
I think that lots of students had a great time.  I think that the grade 5 class will have lots of fun next year.  What I didn't enjoy was that we only focused on investigating the crime scene.  I thought that we would learn how to use dust to uncover finderprints and learn where to look to see what time the person was killed.  That really disappointed me. I also would have like it if would have gotten our lunch from the B.C.
Other than those minor disappointments I had an awesome time being a forensic scientist at the Bennett Centre.  How about you?

Snow Fort Conflicts

In the past couple of weeks there have been many conflicts about who is in charge of  the side of the field where people are allowed to build forts and also who is allowed to be apart of the “Team”.  I say that kids should be free to build a fort wherever or whenever they want. There have also been many forts being destroyed by some people that think that they are being cool. One example of that is when there was one awesome fort called “The Castle” that got part way destroyed by a group of people that thought it was cool to steal snow blocks from one of the coolest forts our school has ever seen! With those blocks they made smaller forts close together and called it “The Village”. Everyone from “The Castle” started moving over to “The Village”. I would’ve just simply have taken both forts and made an even cooler one with all of the blocks. So what would you have done? Which team would you have been on? Do you agree with my solution? And if anyone reading this can relate to this than I’m sure you’ll understand.

Should we get School Uniforms?

I think, that kids should not have to wear school uniforms. They should be free to wear what ever they want. I dislike the idea of uniforms because clothing can sometimes tell who you are. Sometimes cloths also tell us about your personality, for example if you are a bad or a good boy/girl.
So you need to tell me what you think.  The question is: School uniform or not? What do you think and why?
If you favor them what color should the uniforms have and should we have one for each season? If we get them will the girls uniform be different from the boys or should they be the same?
If you are against school uniforms, why? What is so bad about them?
If we get them what will you do, will you just wear them, protest or do something to get rid of your uniform?
